Pouring excess clay slip from mold to form a vessel

Kris graduated in Psychology, enjoying a long career in a variety of human service venues. Enamored with pots, she took community ceramic classes and moved a throwing wheel into her kitchen and a kiln into her garage. After being a recreational potter for several years, she garnered all her retirement options from a 40 year career and enrolled at Boise State University, graduating with a BFA in 2013.

The most significant development of attending art school was to discover her own voice in clay, finding expression in midcentury minimalism. Kris was introduced to the art of mold making and slip casting, which is a form of ceramics that lends itself to refined forms. Kris’s pieces are cast in small batches, a few dozen pieces at a time, each one meticulously finished through multiple stages of production.

An active member of Boise Open Studios, Kris has shown her work in local galleries, and in juried shows in Boise; Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado; Idaho Falls; and Yakima, Washington.
